The New Republic has won the war. Building the peace is proving considerably more difficult.
As Leia Organa and Mon Mothma struggle to govern an exhausted galaxy with too many crises and too few resources, Grand Admiral Thrawn appears unannounced at the doors of Chandrila’s parliament. He is alone, unarmed, and prepared to surrender.
He also brings a warning: there is a war the Republic has yet to see.
Leia has every reason to distrust him. Thrawn accepts restraints, isolation, and the prospect of a trial with a composure that makes every concession suspect. Nobody knows where his fleet is, how much he is withholding, or what he hopes to accomplish from inside their custody.
